our History
Hospitality Network for Students started in February 2018 with two enthusiastic students studying at NHL Stenden Hotel Management School in Leeuwarden. They felt something was missing though – a connection between the school and the industry. This is where Hospitality Network for Students came to life; intended to be the link and helping factor between NHL Stenden and its students.
The founders of HNS started focusing on organizing hospitality related events to get members involved. This is something that we are still doing! Scroll down to see all the current activities.

While it started with only two students, Jorn Heikens and Jeannot Peijen, they managed to compose a board of eight in their third academic year. During the first year, they focused on creating a valuable experience for all HM students in Leeuwarden. As most of the board members left Leeuwarden the next academic year, they handed over the association to six new board members. These board members focused on finding new members and creating a reputation and network as was intended by the two founders.
With new members, new events and new sponsors, the association found their place. Since the academic year 2020/2021 we have FIVE (!) committees and are planning to expand this number. If you are interested in joining a committee, please check out the pineapple team page!
